NU.nl – Vanaf 2017 geen herkeuring meer voor 50-plusser in Wajong

Tienduizenden mensen die ouder zijn dan vijftig jaar en al heel lang een uitkering krijgen omdat ze al op jonge leeftijd gehandicapt waren, hoeven vanaf volgend jaar niet meer te vrezen voor een lagere uitkering.

Ze worden niet in staat geacht om nog te kunnen werken en hoeven zich niet meer te laten herkeuren. Staatssecretaris Jette Klijnsma heeft dat besloten na overleg met uitkeringsinstantie UWV, liet het ministerie van Sociale Zaken weten aan Trouw.

De bewuste groep maakt gebruik van een Wajonguitkering. Het UWV verwacht dat de vijftigplussers allemaal gaan protesteren als ze nog moeten gaan werken en alsnog moeten worden herkeurd door een UWV-arts. Zo’n 36.000 uitkeringsgerechtigden worden ontzien. ”We willen Wajongers niet meer belasten dan strikt noodzakelijk”, aldus Klijnsma.

”We zien dat als we vijftigplussers aanschrijven, dat het leeuwendeel geen arbeidsvermogen heeft”, zei Klijnsma maandagochtend tegen Radio 1. ”We wilden dat natuurlijk zeker weten, dus dat hebben we de afgelopen tijd bekeken. En als dat dan zo is kan je ze wel allemaal oproepen, maar eigenlijk is dat te dol.”

Opzadelen

Klijnsma stelde eerder iedereen een kans op werk te gunnen, maar zegt dat deze groep mensen niet langer met een herkeuring moet ”worden opgezadeld”. ”Deze mensen houden vanaf 1 januari 2018 hun volledige uitkering.”

PvdA-Kamerlid John Kerstens is blij met het besluit van zijn partijgenoot. ”De PvdA heeft er eerder voor gepleit om oudere Wajongers niet te herkeuren”, aldus Kerstens. ”Ik ben dan ook blij dat hun onzekerheid, die vaak veel stress meebracht, nu voorbij is. Dat verdienen ze.” Ook de FNV is blij met deze stap van Klijnsma.

Anoushka Schut, Tweede Kamerlid voor de VVD, is minder enthousiast. ”Wij zijn hier niet voor. Wij zijn er niet voor om mensen aan hun lot over te laten”, aldus Schut. “Punt is dat mensen boven de vijftig alleen maar omdat ze ouder zijn anders worden behandeld. Iedereen moet gelijke kansen hebben, op werk en herbeoordeling.”
